Providing all the necessary legal requirements are met exporting cars inside shipping containers is a relatively easy process.
An average size saloon car will fit easily inside a 20 foot container with room to spare for personal effects or other goods needed to be shipped abroad.
For multiple cars or high top vans a high cube container may be required. The extra clearance provided means that cars can even be double stacked inside using specialist racks or frames, a quick and easy container conversion.
For safety and possibly to comply with regulations cars should ideally be drained of any fuel and oils and have their batteries disconnected. The handbrake should be firmly applied and the car placed in first gear or park. In addition the car will have to be adequately secured to withstand the rigours of intermodal transport, using ropes, wires and chocks.
For larger vehicles such as plant or tractors open top containers or flatracks may provide a solution. Whichever container you decide upon for shipping must have a valid CSC plate or acep sticker to be accepted onto a vessel.
