Shipping containers are frequently used as fences and site boundaries. Vacant sites can fall foul to illegal traveller encampments or fly tipping. Construction sites in use often have expensive plant and materials stored there that need to be protected, site boundaries also need to be clearly marked out. Ring-fencing sites with containers solves many of these issues. They can be dropped in place fairly easily and are much more substantial than conventional fencing. If needs be they can also be double stacked to help shield noise and dust.
Another advantage in using shipping containers as a fence line is that they can also be used to store plant and materials at the same time. As with plywood hoardings they can be painted in any colour and company logos or liveries added.
Any size box can be used, however 40 foot containers are less likely to be able to be moved by those seeking to gain unauthorised access. Where perimeters are an odd size Converted containers of any length can be used such as 10 foot or 30ft containers.
Unless you intend to store moisture sensitive contents in the boxes then it is not always necessary to buy them in cargoworthy or wind and watertight condition. If the units are simply being used as a fence line savings can be made by buying used equipment in “as is” or damaged condition.
